Mrs. Charlotte Kesson-Smith Osei (born 1 February 1969) is the UN International Elections Commissioner, a Ghanaian lawyer and former chairperson of the Electoral Commission of Ghana from 2015 until she was dismissed 2018 .She became the first female to serve in the office of the Electoral Commission of Ghana since the independence of Ghana. Before her appointment she was the chairperson of the National Commission for Civic Education. In May 2019, she was appointed by the United Nations to be on a team of international advisors, to assist in managing the 2019 presidential elections in Africa. From 2002 until 2005, Osei worked as general counsel for Unibank Ghana, and then from 2005 until 2011 as founder and lead counsel for business lawyers, Prime Attorneys. She was chairperson of the National Commission for Civic Education from 2011 until 2015. In 2015 she was appointed chairperson of the Electoral Commission of Ghana and she presided as the Returning Officer for Ghana's 2016 Presidential and Parliamentary elections In May 2019, the United Nations appointed Charlotte Osei as an International Elections Commissioner.

Lawyer Osei was a teaching assistant at the Faculty of Law, University of Ghana, Legon in 1994 to 1995. She worked as a lawyer for Laryea Company in Accra from 1994 to 1997, then as Senior Legal Officer at the Ghana Commercial Bank from 1997 until 2002. She also lectured part time in commercial law at the university from 1997 until 2003

Mrs. Osei had her secondary education at the Ghana National College in Cape Coast. She proceeded to the University of Ghana where she obtained her LLB in 1992 and Ghana School of Law where she obtained and called to the bar in 1994. She also holds Master of Business Leadership (MBL) from the University of South Africa, Pretoria (2006), Master of Laws, (LLM), from Queen’s University, Kingston, Ontario, Canada.

She is Married and has a young beautiful daughter called Krapa Osei and as a beautiful, wonderful young woman , she believes in the nature of God’s creation. On 31st January,2021, Once again, it was a great pleasure to be part of this great initiative by Mrs. Charlotte Osei. Former Electoral Commission Boss of Ghana, Lawyer and life strategist.  

The activity discussed was really a great light to empower women especially the wounded ones . I really learned and I was inspired by Mrs. Linda Ampah, Mrs. Charlotte Osei, Mrs. Edith Adabie and Mrs Belinda Smith.

THE INITIATIVE TO EMPOWER WOMEN

 

The Thirsty Woman project was inspired by the Bible story in John 4 of the Samaritan woman at the well from whom Jesus requested some water. During the encounter he told the woman he could give her "living water" as a gift from God so that she would never thirst again. Jesus used the words “living water” to refer to eternal life, the gift that would satisfy her soul's desire (thirst). 

Every woman is thirsty for something, e.g. self-value, joy, peace, success, love, fulfilment etc, and often seeks refreshment from all manner of sources.

THE EXPERIENCE AND LESSONS LEARNT FROM MRS.OSEI

Thirsty woman initiative by Lawyer Mrs Charlotte Osei inspires and motivate women to achieve greater achievement. Through an opportunity given to experience, most life has been transformed and through the teachings of divine strength and acceptance, most women have been able to overcome the fear to operate in every situation or challenges or obstacles they encounter. 

The darkness experience gives a scary report to light. No matter the circumstances or situation in which you encounter in life , never give up nor quit because actually with determination and courageous spirit, the challenges, you may overcome and achieve greatness.

Through this experience shared, I had a great enthusiastic moment of empowerment which it analyze every occurrence of condition or experience to be encountered. Thirsty woman, Healing the wound of the past really motivate to let the uncertainties of life which I had encounter go and move on with determination, hard-work, focus , courage and persistence.

This great initiative to share her experience to empower women for greatness. Through the idea of  how she overcome and become a great woman she is today , thirsty woman 👩 initiative is to motivate and inspire others especially women to achieve what they wants to become! The young women and those under the up ridge of overcoming the uncertainties of life which has deviously damage the inner will to operate.
